Jean Smart Biography

Jean Smart (born September 13, 1951 in Seattle, Washington) is an American film and television actress.

Biography

Jean Smart was the second of four children. She starred as the character Charlene on Designing Women from 1986 to 1991 and Kim Possible from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, she was part of the short-lived sitcom Center of the Universe. Recent appearances on the big screen include Disney's The Kid, Sweet Home Alabama, Bringing Down The House, and Garden State.

In January 2006, Jean Smart joined the cast of 24 playing the First Lady of the United States, Martha Logan.

Jean Smart is married to actor Richard Gilliland, whom she met while working with Gilliland on the set of Designing Women. They have one son, Connor. She is a graduate of Ballard High School, located in Seattle. It is here where she sparked her interest in acting in the drama program.

Smart's birthdate is September 13, 1951, but there has been some varying accounts found throughout the media. Other sources have claimed years such as 1953 and 1959, but since she is Ballard High School Class of 1969 and University of Washington 1975 graduate, 1951 is the correct year of Ms. Smart's birth.
