Casey Affleck (born August 12, 1975) is an American actor of Scottish and Irish descent. Born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA, this younger brother of Ben Affleck spent the last few years of 1990s working his way out of his brother's shadow.

Casey Affleck got engaged to Summer Phoenix, his girlfriend of four years, on January 9, 2004. On May 31, 2004, Phoenix gave birth to their son, Indiana August, in Amsterdam.

Biography

Actor Casey Affleck, younger brother of actor-writer Ben Affleck (the two look nothing alike), first won attention playing Russell Hines, the disaffected youth who helps Joaquin Phoenix murder Matt Dillon in Gus Van Sant's "To Die For" (1995). Previously, Affleck was seen sporadically on television, playing Kevin Bacon's half-brother in the American Playhouse presentation, "Lemon Sky" (PBS, 1988), and a teenaged Bobby Kennedy in the 1990 ABC miniseries "The Kennedys of Massachusetts". He has also done some episodic guest work, including an appearance on ABC's "Family Matters" (1989-1998).

On the big screen, Casey Affleck played another disaffected teen in "Race the Sun" (1996), co-starring Halle Berry as a teacher helping a group of kids find themselves through building a sailboat. He then appeared in "Floating" (1997), an indie drama about a former high school swimming star who turns to petty crime after drifting aimlessly through life. That same year, he had a small role in Kevin Smith's "Chasing Amy", starring older brother Ben. Affleck appeared with his brother again, this time as a South Boston friend to Ben and Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting" (1997). Next, he donned a blond wig and whiny voice for his first leading role in the 1999 black comedy "Drowning Mona". Affleck then appeared in “Committed” (2000), a road comedy starring Heather Graham and Luke Wilson.

In the remake of the Rat Pack caper comedy, “Ocean’s 11” (2001), Casey Affleck joined a cast of A-list actors, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and old friend Matt Damon. Affleck then tried to follow in Ben’s footsteps with “Gerry” (2002), co-written with Damon and directed by Gus Van Zant. The experimental buddy film about two hikers who get lost in the desert without food or water failed to offer him the same recognition as the previous Affleck-Damon-Van Zant effort. After a walk-on role in “American Pie 2” (2001), Affleck returned, along with the rest of the original cast, for “Ocean’s 12” (2004).
